We Are Pleased to Announce the Newark Riverfront Revival 2015 Season Calendar for Riverfront Park!

We are excited to present the Newark Riverfront Revival 2015 Season Calendar “Best of Newark by the River” for Riverfront Park – 100+ events that are free and open to the public on the Passaic River!

This season features the return of some of our traditional events, including the 4th Annual Walk to the Water and River Day on June 20th, Boat Tours (including Port Tours) with the Hackensack Riverkeeper ($5 for Newark residents), Walkshop Tours of the Passaic River, Riverfront Yoga with Newark Yoga Movement in The Meadow every Monday from 6-7pm, Riverfront Zumba in The Meadow every Tuesday from 7-8pm (please note the time change), Paddle Days which offer free kayaking on the River, Riverfront House Nights beginning on June 19th with DJ Omar Abdallah and Gonzalo Silva (check schedule for deejay schedules), Riverfront Movie Nights sponsored by Newark Office of Film and Television, and the return of the 2nd Annual Praise by the Passaic Gospel Festival on July 27th hosted by Dr. Albert Lewis.

New events on the calendar feature Riverfront Chess with the Newark Chess Club, CultureFest on the River hosted by Starski spotlighting poetry, spoken word and music, “Back to the Basics” Hip Hop Weekend with a presentation of the film Nas: Time is Illmatic on Friday, July 10th and Newark Hip Hop Day on Saturday, July 11th focused on the elements of hip-hop and hosted by Hakim Green, our very first theater production of DIRT RICH on July 18th, a play by Chisa Hutchinson, directed by Rodney Gilbert of Yendor Productions, Riverfront Art Shows featuring the work of local artists, Cobblestone Music Night on July 31st, Quick Culture Meetup networking events, Carnivale on the River on August 8th bringing together the carnival traditions from around the world, Dance Stories on the River on August 15th (please note the correct date) presented by Dance Mogul Magazine featuring Storyboard P, Essex County Concert featuring Latin Splendor on August 12th @ 7pm in The Meadow, Jazz Night with April Peters and her unique brand of JazzPOP Fusion on August 21st and Lusophone Music Night (music of the Portuguese speaking world) on September 11th.

In addition to our events we are also working in partnership with City Without Walls and Newark Youth Works to install a Yarn City project decorating Riverfront Park with yarn bombing art created by youth and a Cobblestone Multimedia Apprenticeship Summer Program with Newark Riverfront Revival which will teach Newark youth about media arts and the ecology and development of the Passaic River and Riverfront Park.

Other partnerships include the building of a mobile application for a guided walking tour developed by Code for Newark and a new television program called “What’s Up Down by the River” co-produced with NWK TV 78 and The Newark Times.
