In a press conference hosted by the Deputy Mayor, Baye Adofo-Wilson at City Hall, the City of Newark , Newark Community Economic Development Corporation, and Trust for Public Land announced that the James Corner Field Operations firm will be the lead designer for the next phase of #Newark Riverfront Park. The firm is internationally known for their parks and was the team behind New York City’s Highline.
Mayor Ras J. Baraka stated that he believes that the redevelopment of Newark’s riverfront and Riverfront Park is the most transformative project in the city. The Park will be extended from it’s beginning on Raymond Boulevard and Brill Street, all the way up to Bridge Street, encompassing three of Newark’s five wards.
Newark Riverfront Revival and the Friends of Riverfront Park are looking forward to participating in the meetings of community stakeholders to help aid in the design process.
